The team: 

The development team consists of developers covering a wide range of technologies such as

  • PHP (WordPress, Symfony,  raw PHP)
  • .NET (Kentico and Umbraco)
  • Front End (HTML5, CSS3, VueJS)
  • Voice (Alexa and Google Home, primarily NodeJS)

The section you would be working for is the Open Source / PHP team, working primarily with WordPress and Symfony.

There is no dedicated Voice `team` as such. Instead, voice applications are delivered by developers across the teams. If this is an area you are interested in, then there will be opportunities for you.

Your role: Junior Software Developer (PHP)

To eventually be responsible for the development of internal and external customer-driven applications, including CMS configuration and development of business logic handling, back-end database integration and a wide variety of API integrations.

You will learn to model data and workflows to fit the business requirements in order to design a solution that will deliver on the objectives. You may be expected to work with databases using Raw MySQL, WordPress Query Builder and an ORM such as Doctrine, Propel or Eloquent this is true as much of WordPress as it is of Symfony development.

WordPress development in Zesty is not simply a “Plugin & Configure” role, it is very much a development role. You should show capability in delivering using an MVC approach regardless of the underlying platform and be able to demonstrate and ability to code websites and/or plugins from scratch.

Day to day you will:

The day to day work consists of learning multiple frameworks and technologies through experience by supporting our existing client base; assisting in the delivery of new projects for our clients, both internal and external across a range of sectors, and taking part in personal developemnt or training exercises.

What we’re looking for from you:

You’re a keen and eager developer with a passion for internet and related technologies, and the benefits that it brings to the business.

You should have a qualification in a relevant discipline or have demonstrable experience of web-based application programming and database design/integration, preferably with knowledge of WordPress, Symfony or Laravel, Linux, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, SQL, Git.

You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of PHP in an Object Oriented sense and will have a good grounding in software engineering princples.

For example:

  • You will know what namespaces are
  • You will know what composer is and how to use it
  • You will be able to make use of autoloading and avoid include/require statements
  • You can demonstrate the logical organisation of your code into classes
  • You should know what M.V.C is and evidence that in your code structure.
  • You will be familiar with some web security risks; you must be aware of SQL Injection at a minimum and be able to demonstrate your defence against it in any sample code you submit.
  • You will separate your PHP logic from your HTML – preferably through the use of a template language such as Twig, Smarty or Blade

Senior Software Developer (.NET) Competitive Belfast Development

Job title: Senior Software Developer 

Your role: As a Senior Software Developer you will be on the .NET team, working primarily with Kentico, although other CMS platforms including Umbraco and bespoke systems are also in use. You will be responsible for the development of internal and external customer-driven applications, including CMS configuration and development of business logic handling, back-end database integration and a wide variety of API integrations.

Day to day you will:

  • Analyse customer requirements (including direct contact meetings) and assisting with project budgeting and scheduling
  • Liaise with teams/individuals to develop and refine high-level design concepts
  • Configuration of Kentico CMS/Xperience and development of MVC and Portal Engine websites
  • Implementation of application logic and back-end database structures
  • Providing and consuming webservices and other software integration logic
  • Work with presentation layer – e.g. HTML/CSS/JS front-end
  • Support of existing websites and CMS platforms
  • Mentor junior members of the team and help drive innovation, efficiency and standards

What we’re looking for from you:

Experience;

  • Relevant qualification
  • Knowledge of web-based application programming and database design/integration with particular knowledge of C#, MVC, SQL, HTML, JavaScript and CSS
  • Experienced in producing standards-compliant, performant and accessible websites
  • Understanding CMS platforms, specifically, experience of Kentico CMS would be advantageous

Other:

  • Able to work with administration and customer support to identify issues and formulate solutions to automated processes
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently in an agency environment, including working to a deadline and across multiple projects simultaneously

Day to day you will:

The day to day work consists of delivery of projects for our clients, both internal and external across a range of sectors, including but not limited to: tourism, entertainment, publishing, sport and eCommerce.

Developers are required to take the outputs from the front-end and design teams and to `wire-them-up` to a CMS or Backend system to provide the dynamic functionality required, always working closely with other members of the delivery team.

Typically these are brochureware websites built in WordPress or more complex web applications built in Symfony. Developers are assigned to work in project delivery teams for the duration of a project and you would see a project through from start to finish. In addition to yourself, that fully in-house team is made up of Graphic/UX Designer(s), Front End Developer(s), Account and Project managers

In addition to the above delivery team, we work closely with our colleagues in Tibus to deliver solutions with bespoke hosting or infrastructure needs, offering the ability to deliver all-encompassing solutions across the full tech-stack.

What we’re looking for from you: You’re an experienced developer with a passion for internet and related technologies, and the benefits that it brings to the business. Agency experience would be desirable however not essential.

Project Manager Competitive Belfast Client Services

Who We Are: Zesty is an ambitious and ever-growing digital agency with a passion for web technology and Client service. Since 1996, we’ve successfully delivered over 2,000 projects covering Strategy, UX, Design and Development, harnessing our teams’ abilities to ensure best practice via effective and measurable online platforms. 

The role: Reporting to the Head of Client Services, you will manage and deliver industry leading digital projects on time and within budget for a wide variety of Clients, requiring liaison with our inhouse resources and trusted partners to ensure project requirements are always met.

Day to day you will: 
●    Analyse customer requirements (in person and online) and assist with project budgeting and scheduling
●    Manage the briefing, delivery, profitability and reporting of Client projects within Zesty
●    Ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
●    Brief and liaise with UX, Design, Development and Hosting teams 
●    Develop clear project documentation throughout the project lifecycle 
●    Manage Clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring they are kept fully informed 
●    Liaise with 3rd parties to agree deliverables and manage scope 
●    Lead project review meetings
●    Adhere to internal accounting/reporting procedures for billing and time management

What we’re looking for from you: 
●    Relevant digital project management experience, ideally gained within a similar agency
●    Experience and knowledge of web technologies
●    Experience of developing effective working relationships internally and externally
●    Experience of Content Management Systems 
●    Good applied knowledge of formal project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, PRINCE2) 
●    A proactive spirit
