Social Walmart Launch 3,500 New Facebook Pages In Strategic Social Networking Move Written by Simply Zesty on 11 October 2011 Facebook are linking up with another big brand as Wal-Mart make a late but very strategic move into social networking. Launching today will be 3,500 new Facebook pages linking up to all the stores in the USA and the pages will each feature an app that allows consumers to find better local deals in their area. It will all feed out of one central Facebook page for the brand and users will be able to find their local store and therefore the best deals by simply adding their Zip code. The two companies have clearly been working on this strategy for some time and it could show the future for large retailers around the globe who have multiple stores. As they say themselves"This allows us to make our stores relevant on a local level. This addresses our ‘next-generation' customers who are using a lot of social media. A national message is often not as relevant.â€How It WorksThis is all focused on local and finding the best deals that are close to you. As you would expect with Facebook, there is also a large emphasis on sharing content with friends and liking particular products. It's early days but it is easy to see how this could get extended in to a Facebook commerce style solution. You can check out how it all works over on the Facebook page itself. Of course, this has all been launched with the busy holiday season in mind which is fast approaching.
