Today sees the launch of a new Irish site, Vidvend which aims to provide publishers around the world with cooking videos available to license on demand. The site features over 150 recipes and tips and aims to replicate the stock photo model of sites such as dreamstime or getty images. Although all the content is produced in house on Vidvend plans for the future include allowing submissions from other content producers to increase the content bank. The site is a spin off from Lookandtaste and Sean Fee the CEO and founder said…
We get approached for licenses to our content a lot, so we decided a website which could make the process painless was the best way to provide the licensing aspect of our business. There is nothing else out there like this for food at the moment so we’re the market leader on launch”.
Sean feels the market for stock video licensing could be about to explode much like the stock imagery market has over the last 5 years, with the Irish company that owned Stockbyte and Stockdisc being bought by Getty Images for $135m in 2006.
“Video is the new standard on websites around the world and it’s a proven tool for attracting and keeping visitors on your site. Whilst we’re niche, we feel it’s definitely a good niche to be in”.
The following video gives a brief outline of how the site works…
