The idea is simple. We want to put new Twitter lists to great use by creating lists of every single person using Twitter in America. We want to do it in 72 hours and we want to use the power of crowd sourcing to do it. All you have to do is tweet the message below and we will collect all the tweets and add them to the lists for each State. We will then publish the results and have a full twitter list of users for each of the States as an incredible public list for the American public to use. Getting started really couldn’t be much easier, simply follow this simple tweet instruction…
What you need to tweet to get listed
I want to get listed #TwitterCalifornia add yourself here http://bit.ly/40ZL4M
*Replace California with the State you live in
Where To Find The Lists
You can see the full Twitter lists at Twitter.com/simplyamerica and Twitter.com/simplyamerica2 Twitter.com/simplyamerica3.
The reason there are 3 is because Twitter only allows you 20 lists per profile. The lists will be updated as the day goes on but will NOT be updated in real time so don’t worry if you don’t appear instantly on the lists, you will appear eventually!

I can’t be included then? Twitter excludes a lot of users from twitter search, so hashtags won’t work for everyone!
You spelled California wrong in your example tweet. so either fix it or have the script check for the misspelling
Thanks for letting us know. There wouldn’t be a problem with the script, no typos in there

Will there be a “Crowd Sourcing Canada” in the future?
How about one for Canada?
There are already services that provide lists of US states with the most Twitterers. With only 20 lists and a maximum of 500 names, that is only 10,000 of the 20+ million Twitter users in the U.S.
Oops, I see you have 3 accounts. Still, 30,000 is not a huge improvement. There are already some pretty comprehensive directories of users (TwitterCounter, Twellow, WeFollow, TwitStates, etc.).

Just FYI, as someone mentioned above, I’m pretty sure that there’s a cap on how many people you can include on a list, which would make this a first come first serve type thing, right? Any ideas of how to get around this?
