Measurement Camp comes to Dublin

Before we start telling you details of Measurement Camp and what a great opportunity it is to get involved with, we had better explain what it is (despite the rumours, there are no tents or rulers required).
Measurement camp was started in the UK about a year ago, by the crazily enthusiastic social media guru Will McInnes (co-founder of Nixon McInnes). It came about off the back of a conference where it emerged there was a knowledge gap in the industry for defining and measuring the metrics of social media marketing. Will put himself forward to organise and run Measurement Camp and it’s continuing to grow from strength to strength.
We got our heads together with Damien Mulley and thought that it’s about time to bring Measurement Camp to Dublin.
The idea of Measurement Camp is that we’re not trying to define the ‘magic number’, or a one-size fits all approach for measuring the success of social media campaigns. We all know that this isn’t reflective of the nature of social media and that there will never be a straight formula that will give you all the answers. But that doesn’t mean we rest on our laurels. The aim of measurement camp is to get smart people together and discuss the metrics of social media and online PR we can measure, whether these are new, i.e. followers on Twitter, or whether traditional marketing metrics can be applied. But that’s all to be discussed!
The key to the success of Measurement Camp is that it’s an open, collaborative event. Generally, we’ll split into groups and discuss real world or fictional campaigns, or focus on a particular issue around measurement. Everyone is encouraged to share – there are definitely no right or wrong answers and it doesn’t matter how experienced you are. Everyone is welcome and everyone’s opinion is valid. So whether you’re a student, agency, client, freelancer, whatever, the key is that we share our opinions and listen to everyone as that’s the only way to learn and move forward. A quick word of warning – it is not a sales pitch, we’re all there to learn!
So mark it in your diaries – 27th May, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm. (Venue to be confirmed). Add your name to the Measurement Camp Dublin wiki, follow us on Twitter @mmcdublin and help spread the word.
