‘Life In A Day’ Now Available Entirely On Youtube
Last year, you may remember that Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald and executive producer Ridley Scott created a 90-minute feature film made out of 4,500 hours of footage that was sent in by Youtube users. All the footage was filmed on the same day, and the resulting movie was launched to critical acclaim around the world and captured the imagination of many. It appeared at the world’s biggest film festivals and has had a good run in the cinema, but the really good news is that the film is effectively coming home to where it all started. As Youtube say…
Starting today you can watch Life in a Day on YouTube, available with subtitles in 25 languages. So if you haven’t seen it yet or want to relive the experience that The Times of London considers “a thrilling piece of cinema†and the Washington Post called “a profound achievement,†now’s your chance.
What is really interesting about this is that Youtube are clearly making a move towards getting people to watch longer better quality content and this is, in effect, their own flagship film. The quality is outstanding (make sure to switch to 1080p in the bottom right hand corner) and providing your connection is good enough, it is effectively a free movie that you can watch on Youtube. We think it is well worth a watch and you will probably be watching plenty more movies in this format online in the future.
