BMW And Yelp Partner To Deliver Reviews As You Drive
It is a widely accepted fact that the motoring industry is about to see a wave of new technology descend upon it with social media right at the heart. Today we are seeing one of the first manifestations of that with the launch of a strategic partnership between BMW and Yelp to offer in car reviews. BMW already has some app integrations (Pandora and Mog music apps for example) but up until now these have been accessed via an iPhone whereas you will be able to download the Yelp app direct to your vehicle.
Some of the technology that has been released for the motoring industry before today has been about PR and building hype ahead of a luanch but you can see that this particular app could actually be quite useful. One of the most frequent occasions for people looking to find a new venue in a new area is when they are driving so having the app built in to the car makes a lot of sense. There won’t be a huge advantage over using your phone but we are right at the start of the new phase of technology coming to cars and things will only improve. This really is the very tip of the iceberg and given how much time some people spend in their cars it makes sense to improve the technology on offer there and you can now start to understand why Google are looking at driverless cars in the future.
You may not be lucky enough to own a BMW or to use Yelp but if you did you wouldn’t have to pull over and search your phone to find the best local pizza because your car would be able to take you right there thanks to Yelp.
