Tweetdeck For Chrome – The Best Twitter Client Yet

There are hundreds of different ways to use Twitter from the website itself to mobiles and clients of all shapes and sizes. I’ve played around with them all on a daily basis but this weekend I started using Tweetdeck for Chrome and it is about as stunning a tool as you are ever likely to come across. It’s built in to the browser and it operates within a tab so it feels like using a website and there is no need to log in and start the app as you do with Tweetdeck on the desktop. The one downside that this app has is that it is just so good that it could be distracting. It’s very good for people who use Twitter professionally like ourselves or businesses for monitoring but be warned that this could distract you because having this much good information only a click of a button away is a big temptation to have.

Where Does This Sit

This is so good that it actually competes with the Twitter website itself. It even makes the Tweetdeck desktop client pretty much obsolete. Why would I fire up a desktop app every time I want to use Twitter and leave it running all day when I can open a tab and get the same experience. I see no reason why I would use the Twitter website when I can have this experience within a tab and that has to be a big worry for Twitter. We’ve seen Twitter in the past jumping on apps and closing them down and I just wonder if this is a big enough threat for them to think the same way.

A Few Downsides

This app really is so good that I was struggling to find any downsides to it and form a balanced opinion. I’ve already said that it is too good and it could lead to you wasting more time on Twitter than you already do. The other thing is that you have to use the Chrome browser and that is something that only a minority of people do and many businesses still run with browsers like Internet Explorer.

Some of the features are so stunning and simple to use that this is a joy to use. The little things like infinite scrolling and blended columns make this so easy to use. It’s a couple of clicks to instal it as well and you can open it by just clicking to open a new tab. You’ll have to set up an account which only really takes a couple of minutes and it personalizes the whole experience and you can even go as far as adding your Facebook account as well.
