The CEO of Sun Microsystems, Jonathan Schwartz has become the first CEO of a large company to resign via tweet.
Last week he wrote “Financial crisis/Stalled too many customers/CEO no more,” after the company had been purchased by Oracle.He has been a big public user of the internet. At Sun, he became the first chief executive of a major company to put up his own blog.
Once Oracle had bought Sun, the resignation was likely. Especially when, in an interview last week, the head of Oracle (Larry Ellison) said he fully expected Mr. Schwartz to resign rather than play a role in the combined company.
So what’s next for annoucements via twitter? is there any type of annoucement that people won’t publish?
