Hugely Innovative KLM Social Media Camaign – Video

This campaign is a couple of months old at this stage but luckily KLM (or probably the agency behind it) have made a great little video summing up how it worked. I think it’s a great idea and really captures the spirit of social media by engaging with customers in a fun way. I do worry though that it might just be that tiny little bit creepy especially when you quietly sitting there and a 3 man camera crew rocks up to present you with your gift. One thing that can’t be ignored is the positive way in which people would have been talking about KLM after this and that can only be a good thing. My own personal favorite in this one was the person who was on his way to a tech conference, sent his Tweet via a iPad and received iTunes vouchers for apps. That must have left him with a warm fuzzy feeling about KLM and kicked his word of mouth up to a new level. This is not something that you will see all airlines doing as their margins are tight enough but it just shows with some creative thinking you can have a lot of fun with social media and engage with your customers in ways nobody else has even thought of yet. Fair play to KLM…
