Sporting Infographic Shows How Ingrained Social Media Coverage Is In Football

Inforgraphics are becoming more and more popular as a way of displaying findings, facts and figures in a fun, creative and engaging way. And why not! If people are greeted by a list of data, they’re unlikely to either pay attention or retain any of the information presented. However, if this information is displayed in a more visual way, the viewer is more likely pay attention and remember it.

The most recent infographic that caught my eye is one that looks at when English Premier League teams do social media well. Each month, the guys at Freestyle Interactive will collate data from sources such as Facebook and Twitter, analysing information such as the growth in fan and followers, biggest Tweeters and Klout score (Although that last element is somewhat dubious)

It will be interesting to see what movement, if any, takes place in the table and it will show which clubs are actively embracing social media in a meaningful way to connect with their fans. The Facebook and Twitter big four are very similar to the real life big four. This comes as no surprise as these clubs look to connect with and leverage their massive worldwide fan base.

For all you football geeks, the good news is there will be an updated infographic each month so you’ll be able to see just how well your team is doing in the (social media) table.
