New site launches – built 100% on Twitter

Last week saw the launch of goodbuy.ie- an Irish site that lets you ‘find and share great deals’ in Ireland. But how is this different to your usual consumer information site? This one is built 100% on Twitter.
Goodbuy
The people behind goodbuy.ie originally ran it like any other deal site, adding offers and relying on a fairly small number of customers and companies to post offers. They made the decision to run it exclusively through Twitter, recognising that most businesses were either already active on there, or certainly would be soon. Running it through Twitter also ensures that the content is kept fresh and ‘real-time’ , leveraging the constant updates made through Twitter.

So how does it work?

Goodbuy automatically loads companies into the stream and filters out deals according to relevance and accuracy. If a company wants to get involved and have their deals included on the site, you just have to email your username and your tweets will be added to the system (usually takes about 24 hours). You can email support@goodbuy.ie with your Twitter username to be added onto the system.
To use the site, you simply search for what it is you’re looking for, i.e. ‘hotel’ and the site will return relevant results. It’s ultimately more targeted than using Twitter search, as the team manually review deals and sites to ensure you’re getting relevant results.

James Donelan, one of the creators behind the site, said “It’s much simpler to use and navigate and we’ve really whittled the site down to do only one thing and do it really well. We’ll be adding some additional features soon including improved searching, tagging and a few others. But we’ll be keeping the site simple.”

There’s been a host of sites built using Twitter’s API. We’ve put together a list of our favourites :
