LinkedIn Global Expansion Grows; 25 Million Users in Asia Pacific Region Alone
After the company’s Q4 2011 report brought good news for the company, LinkedIn are now on a high and the day gets even better for the professional social media site. Regarding its operations over in Asia and the Pacific region, the site has amassed over 25 million users as of now, having grown by five million or 25% over the last four months.
Reported by Penn Olson, the growth in numbers, especially in the Southeast Asian region, was likely triggered by the company’s recent language localisation move, which now allows users from Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia and Bahasa to view the site in their native language. Roughly four million of Linkedin’s users originate from this location while Singapore has over 700,000 members signed up to the service. India continues to have the largest number of users with over 13 million users.
Other plans Linkedin has for the region include opening a engineering office specifically for the Japanese language which highlights their plans to provide a localised experience. So far, there aren’t any plans to expand to China but their managing director and VP for Asia Pacific and Japan Arvind Rajan, said that its use in China is growing as more Chinese are using the tool for hiring.
