Linkedin Finally Copies Facebook Pages And Starts Allowing Companies To Send Updates

Linkedin company pages have been a great addition to the site but the one criticism that many users had with them was the inability to talk directly to the people following a company. That all changes today as the professional network is more or less copying the Facebook pages model and allowing the admins of pages to start sending out updates on behalf of the company. The status updates can be up to 500 characters long and can contain short links and rich media like videos and photos. All the status updates will feed in to the news feed and it is a great way to keep people up to date with your company information such as new hires, new client wins, events or awards. Given that Linkedin are now putting an emphasis on sharable content and the news feed on all profiles it could be a great way for companies to gain some extra exposure through their followers networks as well. This one was a bit of an obvious update and we are just surprised it took so long.
