The iPhone has less than 10% of the marketplace. Yes is will rise a lot but at the end of the day money is much better being spent on obtaining a keyword to standard rate text number and getting ones website adapted so it can be viewed on all mobile devices. People will be opening links on mobile phones and viewing mobile websites with offers in them in return texts

For those app developers that don't know Objective-C and Cocoa Touch and don't want to outsource development, check out localbeacon (an iphone app builder) at www.bigforge.com. Great for those who want to build just one app or developers interested in white label. Full integration of Twitter and Facebook.

While we sell IPhone development this is exactly what I was saying at the IT@Cork event.
It only makes sense to develop an app if you have something compelling to offer, the get rich quick approach requires pure luck.

The difference with Look And Taste is that it has real content backing it up.

You could be lucky and come up with the next fart app but its not likely.

You can of course justify building an app to strengthen an offering you already have, like building an app for users of a website you already have, but its likely that you will give that away for free.

However, the example you give with Flight Control is funny, as it is evidence of the opposite point of view. I am sure most people would be happy with 700k sales of their app!
