Welcome to this week’s instalment of the social media roundup, easing you into the weekend with a selection of what’s been hot on the web this week.
Project Retweet begins
Twitter announced that they would be rolling out project retweet, which adds the functionality to retweet a message within the Twitter interface (obviously catching up with Twitter clients who have offered this for a while). The rollout seems to be to a very select number of accounts at the moment. No-one here is lucky enough to have this feature yet, but there’s some good screenshots of the new feature over at The Next Web. Does anyone here have the new feature yet?
Foursquare launches in 14 European cities
They’ve been rapidly expanding across the world and this week Foursquare made its official arrival into Dublin. The move came with the announcement that they were expanding into 14 cities this week, including Manchester, Paris, Rome and Berlin. Foursquare is without a doubt the media darling of the moment and a quick look at the site traffic shows why.
Microsoft redesigns MSN.com
MSN this week announced a new look for their homepage, including intergrating social media streams from Twitter and Facebook. The new site is ultimately a lot cleaner and less cluttered than the old version. You can see a preview screen here which compares favourable to the current version here
Twitter clients add support for Twitter lists
First we had an announcement from Seesmic as the first Twitter client to support lists, then Brizzly followed hot on their heels, announcing their support of lists later this week. They announced that the support of lists would work seamlessly with their existing ‘group’ functionality
Robbie Williams launches his album exclusively on Spotify
Robbie Williams has announced that his new album ‘Reality Killed the Video Star’ will be made available exclusively on Spotify 3 days before the general release. The album was released on Spotify today, along with a playlist of some of his favourite tracks. It doesn’t seem like the album is available just yet, but you can listen to his playlist here (Spotify link)
And now, a lesson from the French in how to open a bottle of wine with your shoe
