New Facebook Features On Tweetdeck Perfect For Social Media Novices
Today See’s the launch of a new version of Tweetdeck that allows you to integrate your Facebook news feed and filter photos and other information through your Tweetdeck. Tweetdeck had been focused mostly on Twitter up until now but this new move is an attempt by them to become the de-facto application for social media users. One issue that we always have with clients during training is explaining how to manage all their different accounts as they will have to log in to Facebook fan pages (not that easy), Twitter, YouTube and various Google accounts to name but a few and although this is easy for all of us immersed in the social media landscape it is not straight forward for non techy clients and they are often totally bemused.
One tool that they always get within a couple of minutes and understand the power off is Tweetdeck and if I had a penny for every time they had asked us “can we not get Facebook and all the other stuff in Tweetdeck” we would be very rich indeed. This product launch today by Tweetdeck is exactly the right move and will move a service that has been for the niche market used primarily by power Twitter users into a more mainstream element that I could realistically see the average Facebook user adopting as it develops further. The fact that they are adding Myspace will also help them add more rich media like songs and videos to their offering.

I will also personally be adding followers based on the new tweetdeck directories (see above) as I am now only one click away from finding people of interest and this is a very efficient and effective way of me doing this. What most people will probably miss in this new directory system is that this is probably an attempt by Tweetdeck to start monetizing the service as up until now there hasn’t been any attempt to do so. Having your name or brand featured in one of those groups? Pretty valuable real estate I would say! Having advanced versions of Tweetdeck for brand monitoring etc, also very valuable.
You Can expect Tweetdeck to grow massively over the next 6 months, they really really get what we all need and consistantly deliver it.
