New Facebook App Gets 5 Million Downloads In 1 Day, Lets You Find Your Stalkers

Like it? Tell your friends!

Picture 3You know that feeling where you are having a sneaky look at a friend’s profile on Facebook and you are so happy that they can’t actually see that you are checking them out? Well it has just become a thing of the past thanks to a new application called Fan check just launched on Facebook that allows you to see who is stalking you (or just generally checking out your profile). The application compiles data based on the way people react with your profile to find out who your biggest fans are, in their own words…

This application ranks your friends based on how often they interact with your Facebook wall. Interactions counted include wall posts, comments, likes, gifts and other public items posted to your wall. We do NOT count page views or private messages.

The application will display your top fans in an easy to view mosiac and has become so viral because a)people have always wanted to know who is viewing their profile on Facebook and b)it tags you in photos that then appear in your friends news stream meaning that it had 5 million downloads on Sunday and has had nearly 20 million in total. You can expect the application to start breaking up relationships and causing rows between friends pretty soon as jealous partners find out just who their other half is interacting with in even greater detail than normal, we see trouble ahead!!

Er, what part of “we do not count page views” didn’t you understand?

  • Well it certainly gives you a very good idea of who is following your profile more than others and more importantly gives that info to others too

“You know that feeling where you are having a sneaky look at a friend’s profile on Facebook and you are so happy that they can’t actually see that you are checking them out? Well it has just become a thing of the past”

No – nothing has changed. It doesn’t tell you who is looking at your profile – that is against facebooks TOS! It measures interactions with your wall, etc…

Title of post, and introduction is totally misleading.

    • Pallavi says:

I agree with Michael. i doesn’t actually help you find STALKERS! its just showing us WHO interacts the most with yur wall… stalkers view pages, dont have to necessarily comment or interact with the wall in any way, otherwise it would be QUITE OBVIOUS to see who is interacting the most! This app doesn’t REVEAL anything NEW.

      Thank you very much.

    Application “Fan Check” is unavailable

The application “Fan Check” is temporarily unavailable due to an issue with its third-party developer. We are investigating the situation and apologise for any inconvenience.

  • kindaworried says:

How about the new “Who is following you”-app? Does that not count page views either?

    • Joshua says:

No it doesn’t. it says so the first time you use it.

counting App views is against Facebooks’ Terms-of-Use, and every-time an app finds a way to do it Facebook fixes the problem and removes the app.

  • Michelle says:

It says in the description it doesn’t let you see who viewed your facebook page. It only uses wall posts.

What a bunch of retards. The ONLY reason apps like this are created, is to grab your email so that they can promote / sell you something later, again and again. That goes for 99% of the FB apps.

wall posts, comments, likes, gifts and other public items posted to your wall are already obvious….how is this going to cause problems or ID stalkers? If you are interacting with them already it’s not a secret.

The article is contradictory; first you assert that the application allows you to see who is stalking you (or just generally checking out your profile) but then you go on to say that it (the app) ranks your friends based on how often they interact with your Facebook wall, which does NOT include page views or private messages. Which is it

Q: Can I know who’s viewing my profile or how often it’s being viewed?
A: No, Facebook does not provide a functionality that enables you to track who is viewing your profile, or parts of your profile, such as your photos. Third party applications also cannot provide this functionality. Applications that claim to give you this ability will be removed from Facebook for violating policy. You can report applications that provide untrustworthy experiences by clicking the “Report Application” at the bottom of the application’s About page, or by clicking “Report” at the bottom of any canvas page within the application.

  • KD says:

    Facebooks TOS
Can others know when I view their profiles?
Facebook currently does not provide an application that allows users to track profile views or statistics on the views of any specific user content. Third party developers, however, may offer applications that provide SOME of this functionality. Please keep a few things in mind for these applications:

Applications CANNOT track PROFILE VISITS for users who simply go to another person’s profile; FAEBOOK HAS MADE THIS TECHNICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. (In other words, Facebook has restricted access to the necessary information that would allow developers to obtain profile viewing information).

HOWEVER, in order to be tracked by an application, you will need to specifically agree to allow the application to track your actions. (So if you added this tracking application and your friend who you view all the time also has it, they may know your viewing their page as well as adding wall posts, likes, and so on).

Adding an application that provides this functionality is purely optional. If you do not want to participate, please do not add the application to your account.

  • moasa says:

There is no way to track who has viewed your profile. Now Facebook did not allow to developing This kind of API’s. You have one option. Make a new wall post “I’m going to delete my profile”.
Keep watching who comment on you. Lolz..

  • joe bloggs says:

stalkers just look at your pictures and find ways to look at your pictures if they’re not your friend. this only checks out whos posting stuff on your wall and keeping in contact with you, that’ll just be your closest friends who will probably be the same sex as you (assuming heterosexuality). this app is useless for finding out who really fancies.

  • Lindy Asimus says:

This is a scam to get to your address book and send out junk. If you get a message for this app on FB delete it.

  • Jim says:

    What a poorly written piece…

First, it says “The application compiles data based on the way people react with your profile to find out who your biggest fans are, in their own words…”

Ok, fine. But does it allow you to see who is simply VIEWING your profile?
“We do NOT count page views or private messages.”

Ok, great. Understood. That settles it. But then the article comes back and says, “The application will display your top fans in an easy to view mosiac and has become so viral because a)people have always wanted to know who is viewing their profile…”

Even though it’s obvious from the FB comment that you can’t see who VIEWS your page, why would you write this article in such a disjointed way?

If you click on their friends or look at “view all 5 comments” will it then track you. I know it doesn’t count if you just view their profile but what if you do any of the above.

  • Leo says:

OMG! I can’t believe there are STILL dummies who think there is a way around to view who’s stalking who on Facebook. I think FEW have read FB’s Privacy and Policy statement to know that FB won’t disclose in any way such information no matter of circumstances. And it’s 2010, July 23rd…
