Hi, I think a lot of the problems you highlight simply stem from a misunderstanding of social media. I'm hoping Gartner's predictions won't come true, but the fact that this is what they're actually advising companies to do is slightly worrying.

OMG, Gartner are a highly respected industry provider of research but seriously a 'dress code' for your avatar do me a favour If this does prove true it seems to provide a perception of 'cringe'. Some large companies seem to be very narky about their public brand property + employee perception and will require strict control at all times over anything that is available to captain bloggs. Rather than view social media as a active opportunity they will possibly view it as a large 'X 'for danger, care of some inadequate and uneducated analysis. Nice article.
