bmi Become First Brand To Launch A Pinterest Lottery
We were all wondering how companies would use Pinterest to run promotions and competitions, and now the first ever Pinterest lottery has begun. British Midland International, an airline company better known as bmi, has launched their campaign called #bmipinterestlottery, which turns the Pinterest function of ‘repinning’ into a lottery style game.
bmi have set up five boards on their Pinterest account of five different locations: Beirut, Dublin, Marrakech, Moscow and Nice. Each destination board is comprised of nine pins, which are different images of each location. To play the game, users simply have to repin an image, all of which are numbered, to be in with a chance to win free bmi flights.
Like the lottery, Pinterest users can choose up to six numbers, by repinning up to six pins from any of the boards. Every week, one image will be chosen as the winning number as it were, and if you have repined that image from any of the boards then you could be the winner.
bmi have also been using Instagram to run a photo edit challenge, with photos of nine desinations uploaded to the bmi Instagram account, and Instagram users were asked to edit them. Instagram users can vote on the finalists and the winner will be chosen on March 10th; the prize being a pair of return business class flights to one of the nine featured cities. bmi are one brand happy to branch out from Facebook and Twitter to use more niche social media sites to engage their audience, and will no doubt expose them to new fans on these networks.
