If you are a writer I am not sure that Tumblr is your ideal platform as it is very instant publishing mostly suited to photos, videos and the like but that is not to say that it doesn't work because I have seen people writing blogs on there but I think for traditional writing blogs are still the best platform. Yet I ghost-write a few blogs and when I have to update statuses across platforms, ping.fm is a life saver. Also the link converter and tracker is nifty (allowing you to see which SN are giving you the most hits). I guess being a blogger and writer, so much of my time is spent writing and reading I try to cut back on stuff where I can to save time. I haven't had much experience with tumblr and posterous, but each month I try to explore and learn a new platform of SN advertising. This month was flickr, last month was tweetdeck. The only reason I haven't looked at Tumblr much yet is because pnig.fm cant verify new accounts yet because of some migration malarkey. But I'll give posterous a look-see. Sure I will post links to stuff on Facebook, twitter and even linkedin but I like to pick and choose what is relevant to which readers and have a tailored specific message. Most of these sites have been around for years and are using these new mediums to distribute content more advantageously. Because they've been around for so long, they have tonnes of content ready to go! Right now, I'm still wrapping my head around ping.fm and it's powerful nature to distribute across multiple platforms, which funnily enough Gary Vaynerchuk put me onto.
