Amazing 3D images on Flickr
Every now and again something comes along along online that is just so stunning and really makes you stop and wonder at what’s possible with all the content we’re creating through social media. This is one of those. A team of developers have developed an algorithm for Flickr that allows them to make 3D models of cities, entirely from photos submitted on Flickr in just one day :
The video below shows this in action from start to finish (hint – watch from 1 minute 30 seconds for the real action) :
Here’s a couple of our favourite Flickr mashups, just for a bonus!
Infinite Comic
A pretty cool Flickr and Twitter mashup that allows you to create a cartoon out of pretty much any word. Try it out for yourself here. The site matches your word to Flickr photos and the latest relevant tweet. We’re sure this has lots of good uses, but more than anything it’s a bit of fun!
Earth Album
This is a great site that pulls in Flickr photos from destinations around the world, combined with Google Maps. It couldn’t be simpler to use, just click on a place and see some of the great photos that have been taken there.
