Foursquare Upgrade Explore Function; Finding New Spots More Intuitive
Considering their recent campaign relaunch, Foursquare are really emphasising the ‘discovery’ part of their app, wanting non-users to see that its much more than just a check-in tool that only shows where you are and add to its 15 million strong userbase.
With that, the group has updated their version of Explore for both Android and iPhone with a completely redesigned interface to help find new locations easier. The results shown are now based on the time of day, places on lists you follow, where your friends have been or left tips and recommendations from the app itself.
You can narrow down the search to places that are either new to you or places your friends have been but the best part about the redesigned map search function. While it originally allowed you to see what hotspots were near your location, now you can search from anywhere on your map. All you need to do is drag to whatever location you wish and redefine your search.
The radius of your search is dependant on how far you’ve zoomed out or in, meaning that you can be as specific or as broad as you’d like with your search. Overall, it’s a more intuitive design that regular users will get a kick out of, and will add to the experience of discovering and finding new places to visit.
