Augmented Reality App Turns The World Into Virtual Art Gallery
As part of its Green Box Project, beer brand Becks had set up 30 large Green Boxes around the world in places such as New York, London and Milan. Downloading an app from their site allows users to see works of art via the large green boxes.
Over the next three years, the brand will fund and showcase 1,000 projects by individual artists. Anyone can submit a proposal for funding within the areas of art, design, music or fashion with the chosen submissions featuring in the next stage of the Green Box Projects, released around the world in 2012.
While the green boxes are set up, the app can be used without them. For example, users who held up their device in front of the Statue of Liberty were able to see large red flames coming from the monument’s torch.
You can download the app for iPhone or Android phones.
This video shows a demo of one artist, Kathy Greyson, and her work entitled Facemaker.
