Evil Google – this will give you nightmares
I
t’s a Friday afternoon and we’re all flagging by this point, so I thought I’d share a quick post with you today, that shows the lengths people will go to in an effort to expose Google. The following video is currently being screened in none other than Times Square :
Not a great day when you see a video of you and your company plastered over Times Square and it’s less than complimentary! The campaign has a clear message in the video that is very anti-Google, but is tied to something more serious. The end goal is to get Congress to pass a legislation that enable consumers to have a ‘don’t track me’ option on the internet. It’s a great publicity stunt but I wonder just what it will achieve other than a whole load of hype.
On the flip side, the response from Google has been pretty impressive. Their official response includes the quote “we like ice cream as much as anyone, but we like privacy even more” as they promote the options that users have to protect their privacy online. The online privacy monster just got a bit bigger and I wonder what other stunts like this we’ll see..
