There has been a lot of talk of Google creating some sort of Facebook competitor or as some of the rather foolish authors say…A Facebook killer. There is no doubt that something is brewing as enough people are talking about it and it is clear that Google see Facebook as a real competitor in the future. So it was interesting that this presentation below popped up with what Google thinks (or the Google employee thinks on Google’s behalf) are the apparent weaknesses in Facebook’s defence. What I find surprising is that this has made it on to the web because although there are some great points in this presentation I wouldn’t have thought sharing what you think are your biggest competitors weaknesses in a presentation on slideshare is the smartest thing to do. A PR stunt? Deflecting the attention from their real intentions? Who knows but I think it is a very interesting presentation for anybody involved in the social media space to have a flick through…

Outstanding, thanks for sharing. This is an absolute home run on the challenges and opportunities for social networking. It’s amazing how little influence the long established science of cultural anthropology has had on social application design. If google can build a social network took that allowed easy to use personas for while addressing privacy issues, facebook will be a myspace ghostland 12 months after the google product launch. Hopefully Facebook has people thinking in the same direction.
