Facebook is well used to this sort of attention with most of their updates to the site getting some negative attention online but this time the backlash seems to have gone to a new level with blogs picking up on the story and key influential tech pesonalities even going as far as deleting their accounts. The debate about what Facebook does with your information is for another day but with all these security issues running around we found a great little tool that will tell you just how private your Facebook profile actually is…

If you want to check out the app you can head on over here and sign in using Facebook connect (the irony not lost on us there) and it will feed you back a full list of info on what you are sharing and what is being made public…

What Does All This Mean

This is a great little tool that will hopefully show you just how much of your data is available to the public through common search and just how exposed you could be. As we always say here though you don’t actually need any of these fancy tools to tell you that as soon as you put something online it is not really going to be private for long. Our advice is that if you want complete privacy then don’t share your actions online otherwise just take it for granted that the stuff you are going to be doing online will get monitored and shared in some shape or format.
