As an owner of a fan page on Facebook, it’s a very useful asset to allow fans to tag themselves. It’s not that well known, but this is something you can do very easily on Facebook. I first found it after endless searching on Google and finally stumbled across a thread that referenced this. It seems that a lot of fan page owners don’t realise that you can do this, so we’ve produced a short video demo to show you how it’s done.

For some reason it’s not set as a default option on Facebook, though once it’s enabled you have the option to either tag your fans, or fans can go in and tag themselves. Just in case anyone wants to run a competition that involves people tagging themselves in a photo on your page, be aware that only fans of the page are enabled to do so. As the new promotion guidelines state that you can’t run a competition that requires someone becoming a fan of the page, this still limits you in terms of the competitions you can run on your page. It is still an incredibly valuable asset to have, as anyone that goes in and tags themselves will have that information fed back to their feed thus increasing the visibility of your page.
