There's no easy road to success. Social media are just tools. Real substance comes from our hard work, learning and patience. :-)

Hi Lauren, Great Post! Your post has something that makes a light bulb go off in my mind. Social media is something you can never take lightly and is always a good reminder to me why we use social media in our strategy. Social does mean engaging with your followers with personality - Your Personality! When using social media in your business "the social part" means showing your passions about your business.

Thanks again for the reminder!

Cheers

Hi Roxanne. Thinking about social media as tools is definitely the right way to go about it. Especially if you're using the workman analogy! You have to realise their potential yourself and use them in brand new ways.

That's definitely a good strategy to take Henri. Although I'd say that it's worth looking at the other sites your target audience might be active on, and assessing whether that's right for you or not. But you're definitely right in the need to stay focused. Too many people start getting traction on one site before they're onto the next thing!

I couldn't agree more. This just goes along the lines of someone complaining about machinery not working properly, when in fact it is the operator that is malfunctioned.
Social Media is a powerful tool and is in our hands, but it is up to us as individuals with what we decide to do with it and how we use it. "Get the football, run!!"

I'd say you have to do more. You can't just open and read the books. You have to actually take effective action on the advice and instructions in the books.

This is how it works for programming books. There's only so much you get with bedside reading.

Succeeding takes work and often less is more. My strategy is to focus on only one social media channel completely (twitter) and maybe add a second once I've gotten on a roll (Facebook), but I want to limit my options as much as possible so I can really own one space at a time. It also helps me work and keep my brain clear and focused.
