Increase your followers : add a Facebook subscribe button to your site

Recently we told you that Facebook had added in a subscribe button for featured admins of a Facebook Page. There’s another great way to boost your subscribers though, by adding a button to your website that allows people to subscribe to an individual’s updates without having to go to Facebook. As this is a more seamless process for users, you’re likely to get more subscribers this way, rather than taking them off the site to click into Facebook. This is focused on boosting the profile of individuals as opposed to your company – as you can achieve that through a Likebox for your Page, embedded on your site. But if you want to feature a community manager, reporter, customer service rep, PR officer etc.. this is a nice way to establish connections.

Step 1 : get your button

First of all, visit this page and customise the url by adding in the individual profile url, as shown below :

Step 2 : Customise

As with the Lkebox, Facebook gives you a number of options to customise your subscribe button, depending on how much information you want to show. Here you can choose whether to show the face of the user (which will take up more space), font, colour scheme and the width of the box :

Step 3 – Embed

When you’ve finished your button, click on ‘Get Code’ and choose whether you want the code in html5, as an iframe or XFBML. At this point, it’s over to your developer to embed the code in your site. Think carefully about where you place the subscribe button and customise this as much as possible. Rather than just featuring the same profile throughout all the pages on your site, or just the website, create different buttons for different people where relevant. Although this is focused on boosting subscribers for individuals, if you’re managing these profiles carefully with a clear strategy in place, you can hope to increase engagement with your company overall.
