Facebook Launches Vastly Improved Page Analytics

The insights on Facebook pages have always looked great but to be honest I have never really found them all that useful apart from breaking down some basic demographics. A couple of months ago Facebook improved their analytics and now they have improved them again and started to roll it out on to their Facebook pages last night/this morning. There have been hacks that you can use up until now to improve what you see on Facebook pages in terms of analytics like adding Google Analytics but they are cumbersome workarounds at best. I genuinely think Facebook have been taken aback but the amount of businesses using Facebook pages and I think that this is the next logical step for them. At the end of the day if people are to continue spending lots of money with them on advertising it is imperative that Facebook add good insights and that is what they have done here. Does this remind anybody else of Google Analytics? See where Facebook are heading?

Daily Active Users

Interesting to see that the emphasis being put on daily active users as this is in effect traffic to the page and not too dissimilar to website traffic. The interesting thing here is finding out how many people keep coming back to your page and engaging with your content.

Simplified Dashboard

The new dashboard really reminds me of Google Analytics in it’s simplicity and ease of use. It is easy to quickly find the information you are looking for and a great way of scanning over your stats even for people with no tech knowledge.

Interactions And Comments

Always good to have this as a reminder as to how your interactions or going on Facebook and this will of course help show pages that are getting no interaction and are dead apart from some bought likes.

Geographical Breakdown

Facebook are putting more and more emphasis on the demogrpahic breakdowns of your page and this is crucial in that it will tie in with their advertising and the fact that you can update your status and updates broken down by location etc.

Referees

Great to see that some data is starting to be shared about where the traffic to the page is coming from in terms of third party sites. Also very useful to see which tabs people are viewing when they arrive on the page.
