More video footage for you to watch now from the winter camp conference we helpd during the week discussing the future of social media. Next up is Damian Ryan talking about where agencies are positioned now, how the market is looking in general and what global trends they are seeing in the market place. Damian does a great job of setting the scene by looking at the UK market for some good examples…
Social media is one of the fastest growing industries when it comes to online marketing and we invited the very talented James Whatley so speak at out recent winter camp and share some of his experiences from the social media scene in London. We wanted to share the presentation and video from the conference as James shares lots of interesting links and insight into brands doing it well and what tools we should be embracing in the future to get the most out of social media. For us in the social media industry there is always pressure to be at the top of your game, to know about every application and site out there and figure out a way to make this work for your clients. It can be tempting to jump on the latest bandwagon and try and work out [...]
I was inspired by Stuff White People Like and thought I’d start a little list of ’stuff people in new media like’. I’ve started with 10 and would love to know what you think should be on there!

The latest buzzword on the social media circuit ‘SMO’ – social media optimisation, should die a speedy death before it makes it into the mainstream marketing circles. I’m constantly hearing people dropping this into conversations or talks “make sure your content is optimised for social media!” “social media optimisation is key to our service offering [...]
Apparently, the answer is yes. Research by RSW – a lead generation firm based in the U.S. found that 58% of agencies surveyed use LinkedIn to find new business. There are different types of bets and strategies that you should be using to make sure you get the best run for your money. The most important thing to remember is that services just like horses can fall flat and leave you standing there with nothing but a prayer to hold on to. Make sure you stay in to the end of the social media race…
Maybe I’ve noticed this recently because I’ve just started using an iphone, but the amount of content that surrounds us and how much we’re able to consume, is staggering. Apparently I don’t get bored in queues anymore, because I can check my email or read the news. We are now active across so many channels and subject to so many different forms of content that I’m starting to wonder if there’s a limit to how much content we can take before it becomes just meaningless noise
I am always asked about how we get traffic to this blog and the answer is pretty complicated as you will see from the diagram in this post. We use a whole range of social media tools and sharing options including Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and slidshare and as you can see in the diagram we combine it with lots of other traditional marketing methods in order to build an audience here and further enhance our community. Try some of these techniques yourself and see how you get on…
