What has really happened to traffic to The Times since they introduced their paywall last month? Some of the figures may surprise you, and others are now starting to experiment in this area, showing that the paywall model isn’t slowing down just yet.
The Race Online 2012 initiative is an excellent campaign, but there is more to be considered when we aim to get ‘everyone’ online. Firstly, what do we mean by everyone and secondly, how do programmes like this look outside of physical access to the internet and more at how it is being used.
Thierry Henry’s handball in the France v Ireland game last night prompted the response that we might expect on Twitter and youtube. There are now multiple clips of the incident and I would show you a screenshot of my Twitter stream last night but some of it is just too rude! There was also retaliation [...]
The Xfactor twins Jedward may be camp teens who prance around in jumpsuits and sing very badly but there is an awful lot that we could learn from these 2 plucky young chaps. They are full of life and passion and there are a lot of elements of what they do that should be copied to imrove your blog. You don’t actually have to start by getting a jumpsuit and dancing around singing bad rap but just use their example as passionate young men who are giving it their all while holding their heads up high…
Bing has been grabbing a few headlines lately and it has certainly stormed onto the search market this year, making a big impact. I think there could be a potential for Bing, but I don’t think it’s future lies in search. At least, not as we know it. With their recent integration in Facebook search results and rumoured alternative to Google News they could make a real play for Google in areas other than direct search.

McDonalds, Microsoft and Coca-Cola are among the first companies to sign up to CoTweet’s Enterprise Innovators programme. Put simply, the programme is a method for brands to manage their Twitter presence, providing functionality for multiple users to manage the account and also intergrating analytics. The company themselves bill it as ‘taking Twitter to the next level’. Businesses that sign up to the scheme are also guranteed a dedicated account manager. The only problem is that the Innovator’s programme costs $1,500 p/m , certainly not an accessible option for many businesses.
Twitter is a great way of consuming news but there is a lot of noise on the service and it can be hard to filter all the good quality content but the new service from Twitter time.es aims to eliminate that by delivering you a copy of a newspaper based on all the news in your stream. Itbrings the freshest and most relevant content based on what your friends are reading and it is well worth checking out. I just had my first paper delivered and I must say it is very good indeed…
Twitter traffic has been growing for a couple of years like crazy but October 2009 has seen it drop for the first time and it comes hot on the heels of further bad news with Stephen Fry claiming that he has quit the service. The traffic reports comes from a variey of online services including compete, Quantcast, Alexa and Hitwise who all measure traffic online and although this is only traffic that reaches the Twitter website directly and doesn’t include 3rd party apps such as Tweetdeck and Seesmic it does give a good overall indication of where things are headed.
Is this bad news for Twitter or is it simply a pause in growth before it starts another spurt? Have a look through the graphs after the jump and see what you think yourself…
