Social Media And Guinness Arthur’s Day

Posted on September 24th, 2009 by Niall Harbison in Advertising, Brands

One of the most expensive smartest marketing campaigns this year is Guinness Arthur’s day which is launching today around the world. At 17.59 people will be raising their glasses to Arthur Guinness and celebrating the culmination of a long and successful marketing campaign that will start recouping the outlay in sales for Diageo the company behind Guinness has spent big money on. Advertising has been ramped up all over the world but we wanted to provide you with some of the best resources for following Arthur’s big day online…

Facebook Fan Page

There is some great interaction on the Facebook page and they have built up a great little community in no time at all. They have all the videos, fan photos and the ability to send people virtual pints of Guinness as a gift (these have just sold out).

Culch.ie

Very nice simple little competition over on Culch.ie to win 250 Euros by very simply taking a picture of you drinking your Guinness at 17.59 and then adding it to Twitpic with #guinness250. Good use of Twitter and the best picture will win 250 Euros in cash which you will of course spend on even more Guinness!

Twitter

You probably expect the hash tag #guinness250 to start trending pretty heavily as the day goes on taking over Twitter. Follow what people are up to around the world and see where people are downing their pints of Guinness. Expect lots of people to get sucked in to the campaign who had no idea what it was beforehand.

Gigs

A big part of the festival around Dublin are the artists that are coming to town for the event. You can check out Ticketmaster for what few tickets are actually left. Also have a read about the gigs here on Hotpress
