Possibly key for reader and writer is to connect with like minded souls and if your a dedicated niche fan of something you will pound google with keywords or blast out content and eventually discover the perfect haven/debate you need to get your info fix. Twitter gives me an instant fix for useful direction of a subject or links for like minded people but a blog give seems to truly give you a flavour for the person and more empathy + engagement.
