DO NOT reply at all on the site that the complaint is on!!! This only adds relevance to the site in the eyes of the search engine and keeps the content fresh, thus, making ORM (online reputation management) much more difficult. Create as many positive listings as you can to take over the first pages of the SE's. I.E.: Main Website, Blogs (Wordpress, Blogger) Social Networking (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) Social Bookmarking (Digg, Delicious, StumbleUpon, Squidoo, HubPages, Etc..) and local directories related to your business. This will, if done properly, push the negative comment site off the first pages of Google and therefore decrease the visibility of the negative press

I'd have put "Maybe they have a point" as your number one post there Niall. Most people wouldn't bother unless there was one.

I've actually spent a lot of time researching behavioral marketing and economics. In short, the best way to respond to negative press is to not respond directly (that just adds fuel to the fire in consumer's minds). Instead, strengthen the relationship between your brand and other positive attributes. This will help negate the effect of the criticism or bad PR. There is extensive research and study into this area and is extremely interesting, I highly suggest giving it a look when you have a chance!
