The Best Christmas Campaigns Of 2012
Considering the greatest day of the year is tomorrow (apart from the start of the Olympics or any major sporting event), we’ve decided to round up the best Christmas campaigns that happened this year. With more and more emphasis on creating viral videos, there are a lot to choose from, but here are our favourites.
John Lewis
No list would be complete with this sentimental and wonderful ad that’s been around since November. A snowman’s quest to get a gift for the one he loves will certainly leave you with a smile on your face.
Aldi’s Aussie Santas
Lucky Australians. Instead of snow and cold, they get summer, beautiful weather and this ad featuring a group of Santas (is there a collective term for a group of Santas like a festivity of Santas or a carol of Santas maybe?) going surfing at one of their many beaches. What more could you want?
Wallace & Gromit’s Google+ Hangout
If you’r not familiar with Wallace & Gromit, we’d recommend that you watch some of their short films. the duo, and other Aardman Animations’ characters, are united through Google+ hangouts as they spend Christmas together.
An NBA Christmas Carol
Five NBA stars performing a popular Christmas carol using only basketballs? It’s actually more impressive than it sounds as the five athletes perform ‘Carol of the bells.’
HBO’s Secret Santa
Many companies run a secret santa initiative to help get people into the festive mood. However, it’s probably best not to get gifts that refer to their less desirable traits like this one for HBO.
WestJet Flash Mob
WestJet decided to surprise the 166 passengers waiting for a flight from Calgary to Toronto with a special flash mob, turning a boarding room into the North Pole in 60 seconds.
Coca-Cola Karaoke Machine
As students in the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm prepared for their winter exams, Coca-cola set up this karaoke machine which rewarded students with a free coke if they sang some popular Christmas carols.
BMW
Sometimes the best ideas are the most simple. Instead of coming up with an elaborate campaign, BMW put together this heartwarming ad that shows the journeys people make to spend Christmas with the ones they love.
Chicago Children’s Museum – Imagination Store
The greatest gift a child could have is imagination, something that technology seems to be replacing. The Chicago Childrens’ Museum wanted to recapture that magic by opening up a toy shop that only had one thing, cardboard boxes for the children to play with.
First Dog Of The White House
As well as giving us one of our favourite images from this year, the White House also brought us this adorable video that stars the First Dog, Bo. The U.S. dognitary (see what we did there?) is inspecting all the Christmas decorations in the White House and ensuring that they’re up to scratch.
(We will be taking a short break over the Christmas period and will return on December 31st. Until then, have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!)
