The Zesty Show – Part 2

Introducing episode 2 of the Zesty Show! Up this week – some more vuvuzelas, Bing Entertainment & Spotify. You’ll note that the title of ‘The Fagan Show’ didn’t stick, despite a few people supporting this! Namely Fagan himself. You’ll also notice that Tom is absent from the show this week, but for all his fans out there, we assure you he’ll be back in full swing next week.
We really would love you all to get involved in the comments, tell us your thoughts on the topics we discussed, general thoughts or anything in particular you’d like to see on the show.
I would also like to let you know that this week’s show is suitable for a younger audience, as I have made sure to keep my language in check!
And a quick thank you to everyone who sent us lovely comments and emails on the first episode last week, as well as suggestions on sound etc.. We all have a great time doing this, so I hope you enjoy the show

Another great episode of “Friday with Fagan and Friends” although it was a little hard to concentrate because I was listening closely for Lauren to drop a few F bombs (like Shaun Ryder on TFI all those years ago). Also Lauren, given your love of Vuvuzelas I was wondering are you following twitter.com/the_vuvuzela . Good stuff guys

Good stuff guys. Just on the Facebook / E-mail discussion I read recently (or at some stage in the not to distant past) FB were going to introduce a webmail service. At the moment you can only message 20 or so people per day, but I have heard no mention of this since then. Also some research into why the ‘kids’ dont use email has to do with the lack of spam on social networks. So FB will probably have to limit their webmail service to just those within an individuals own network to avoid the issue of spam rearing its ugly head.

Thanks Luke! Very interesting point about spam. While I do agree that spam is a major issue, I think Gmail (googlemail) do a very good job at keeping my inbox spam free. I guess with Facebook its a case of watch this space!

I know I am biased but I wasn’t involved in making the show this week and I just watched it and enjoyed it. Entertaining stuff. The only big issue I have is that Fagan clearlynhas a face for radio!

I only ever use email for communicating for work I’m doing or leaving a message with someone who isn’t online. The rest of the time I will use twitter or IM. I’m a teenager and probably fit into that study. It’s far from dead though, I mean, I couldn’t survive without my email. I think I have 6 accounts (working for different projects and companies etc…) and I use 3 on a daily basis.

Interesting to get the teenager’s perspective Ben! But then again, you do work a bit harder than the average teen, so could see you needing email more Now that I think of it, there are occasional times when I’ll send a DM for a work matter, to catch someone’s attention quickly. But it’s more like ‘as well as’ email, rather than a replacement. Just more places to get people online these days!

Oh, also, Facebook tried to introduce the ability to email user accounts a while ago (with addresses like YourUsername@users.facebook.com) but that just disappeared so maybe they’ve overstepped it a bit? I can’t find the page referencing it but they introduced it at the same time they introduced Jabber for FacebookIM.

Guys ,I wanted to share my view on google music and your comments about credit cards / Itunes having the market:
Google already have a payment platform, and if Google android is the launch platform for google music then it will already have your credit card details (they are used to buy android apps)
For Chrome OS to work they will have to get all tasks that people use normally working off the cloud inc music video editing etc.
Finally I can see Google taking itunes links off youtube videos and replacing them with google music links.
It may not beat iTunes, but I would not rule them out based on your reasons given.

Hi Adam, thanks for that comment, very useful! Very interesting on them replacing youtube/itunes links with Google Music links. I hadn’t thought about this. This might not have a huge impact as I’m not sure how many people purchase tunes off these links, you barely event notice them. But potentially a huge traffic driver and I’d imagine that if it’s linking through to their own real estate (and revenue stream) they might make these links work a bit harder!
I definitely wouldn’t rule it out and we all know by now that if anyone can do it, Google can. A lot will depend on just how much they can integrate it and how easy it can be to purchase.
