The People Of Ikea Launches

If you still haven’t heard about The People Of Walmart website you really are missing a trick as it is one of the best, most entertaining websites on the web at the moment. The concept is simple in that a certain section of people who shop in Walmart are a little “out there” and users capture these photos and sent them in to the blog. A selection are published every day and it provides us all with a couple more minutes of surfing time every morning to keep us all amused.

Well now the Walmart site has a competitor in The People Of Ikea which has just launched and aims to provide exactly the same service but for the altogether more refined and more sedate people who shop in Ikea. Quirky bespectacled gentlemen? The sedately dressed Accountant couple? The Pregant teens? Will be interesting to see what it turns up and we will all have to watch ourselves when we are out and about shopping.

What is next? The people of Tescos? The people of Dunnes Stores?

Where would the brands sit on this one? My guess would be that they will stay on the sidelines as although they don’t want their customers to be portrayed as buffoons they probably don’t mind some of the free press that they are getting.

Here is one of the first photos on the new Ikea version and as you can see so far it is a little more reserved but you can expect that to change as people get snapping!
