Excellent Coca Cola Social Media Strategy Presentation

Sometimes I spend hours writing blog posts and then other times you just find something that does all the talking for you and makes your life easy and conveys great information. Paul Savage shared a link this morning for this presentation and after flicking through it I could see that it summed up some of the ways I think about social media perfectly. I am not saying that I think like Coke but the points like Google being your homepage, creating great content and about how you need to engage your fans over the long term rather than on a campaign form the basis of what we try to do. Coke have been very innovative in the social media space and we have featured them here on the blog in the past and it is great to see a company of their sheer size stepping up to the table and driving social media forward. This presentation is well worth viewing…

Niall what is great about this example is ‘true community engagement’ from a brand – great case study for brands in Ireland (although some of them are getting it right which is great to see).

Yeah there are a lot of Irish brands that are starting to get it right! Certainly a different landscape to what it was like this time last year!

Coke are Brand legends, and I am glad they are embracing Social Media and Community. If they can sell brown suguary water via community then anything is possible. I also see a very different landscape to last year. The main difference is that companies now have more Time than Cash, and this fits well with using social media.

That is just fantastic. As a person working up on his skills for marketing and branding in general, I think that Coca Cola is one of the most successful marketing and branding undertakings of all time. Not only one campaign but the whole bulk. This is just another example of how they know exactly how it’s done.
I might even write a paper about this for my collage marketing seminar. Thanks for sharing Niall!

Excellent presentation! Your slides compelled me to visit the Coca Cola Facebook page but to my utter disappointment I found the Admin to be completely inactive. No replies to fan posts, no daily interactions with them. When we talk about engaging people, the driving force is to carry the conversation on. The presentation suggests the opposite of whats happening on the page. Number of fans is not appealing but the number of committed and trusted fans is. That’s what your words depict.
Hope brands follow and practice Social Media, the way they talk about it
