Brand Hands Our Samples Using Facial Recognition Vending Machine
A smart new vending machine is giving out samples to consumers by using facial recognition technology to see if they deserve it or not. The campaign was created by Jell-O who wanted to target a more mature market with their latest product which meant sidestepping children who would normally be their biggest customers. On the downside there were always going to be lots of disappointed children but the upside was that they would have gone back crying to their parents begging them to try it. I’m a bit dubious about the actual technology behind the machine and I am guessing it could actually be done by measuring something as simple as height to find out who the children were. Either way this is a great innovative way of getting samples to people in a more creative way than they are normally handed out.
