Given that we are based here in Ireland and that we write about social media we thought it would be a good idea to have a look at what innovative campaigns were out there and some of the highlights online. Brands and businesses have been piggybacking on to social public holidays for a long time and as you can see form the list below it is not just Irish brands getting involved this year.

I was totally over Flash Mobs in train stations after seeing about a hundred of them but that was until I saw the Irish Dancing in an Australian train station flash mob! I guess people all over the world will now be coming to Ireland expecting all our train stations to be like this. This was produced by Tourism Ireland.

Go Green Angry Birds
The biggest game of the last year that is now on pretty much every platform you could imagine has been Angry Birds and even they were not slow when it came to St Patrick's Day marketing with the launch of this Irish themed version. Complete with Irish music and pots of gold as you would expect.
