When it comes to buying shoes, very little has changed over the last few decades. Even the advent of the internet didn't make the process of selecting footwear all that much easier.
That could all be about to change with a brilliant new installation that has been making its way around busy German train stations, allowing users to try on shoes virtually while on the go. It creates an augmented reality version of you which appears on screens wearing shoes and it is all powered by Microsoft Kinect.
Unlike some of these virtual shopping installations that we've seen in the past, the images are incredibly sharp and the shoes follow your movements around perfectly meaning that you actually feel as if you are wearing it. After trying on several pairs and selecting the one that suits you best, a QR code appears which allows you to purchase the shoes instantly. Not sure if they suit you? Share a photo to Facebook and see what your friends think.
All in all, this is the best virtual shopping we have ever seen and this will really take off especially given that it is installed in places where people have to spend time like train stations. What do you think? Will you be doing all your shopping like this in the future?
