So Instagram (or Facebook, really) has revoked support for Twitter cards, restricting your Instagram photos from appearing in the feed. All of a sudden, images were displaying incorrectly, but now you can no longer expand an Instagram link to view the photo directly in your feed. Instead, been taken through to the Instagram site.
This is a pretty sad moment, particularly given the close relationship between Instagram and Twitter to start with. It was, essentially, a really great way to share your photos on Twitter, in lieu of Twitter itself having a viable solution. So what are your alternatives for sharing photos on Twitter now?
If This Then That
Someone has come up with a clever alternative to automatically publish your Instagram photos to Twitter. Using If This Then That - a site which allows you to run certain actions based on 'triggers' (i.e. send me an email if I'm tagged in a photo on Facebook) - you can create an action tailored for Instagram.
Once you've signed up for IFTTT, you follow this recipe based on an action of taking a photo with Instagram and creating a tag with it. After that, just create the action to post the photo to Twitter and away you go! Your Twitter followers will see your filtered Instagram creations in all their glory.
Via.me
If you don't want to go about creating recipes on IFTTT, then signing up for a new photo app might be your best option. Via.me is a nice alternative to Instagram, offering photo filters and easy sharing to both Facebook and Twitter:
Although Via.me isn't just about sharing photos, so some might miss the simplistic interface that you would get with Instagram. However, if you want a reliable app that offers photo filters and one-click sharing to social platforms, this is probably your best bet.
Chrome Extension
If you want to see Instagram pics on your Twitter feed again, then this Chrome extension provides a handy solution for just that. Developer Michael Schonfeld built the extension in response to the outcry against the Twitter/Instagram situation. You simply install the extension, then go and refresh Twitter to see Instagram photos in your feed again. It really does work, as you can see from the before shot:

Upload Manually
A slightly trickier workaround here, but there's an option within the Instagram app that will automatically save photos you take into your camera roll. From here, you can then upload them to Twitter manually by clicking on the photo from the camera roll, provided you've synced your Twitter account.
Note that photos will only be added once you've actually posted them on Instagram. This will also retain any filters you add to the original image as well.
Wait For Twitter's Response
If this whole thing has really hacked you off, then your final option is to wait until Twitter launch a service of its own. Its developers are apparently hard at work on its own Instagram solution, which should be live for the holiday period.
