We often feature campaigns on the blog here that use RFID technology but they are usually one off campaigns with a marketing focus. This winter Vail Ski resort is doing something far more useful by adding RFID tags to all lift passes and allowing people to earn rewards, track their stats and share their photos in a unique and innovative way. Professional photographers around the mountains take snaps of you in action with the family before allowing you to access them via the app online. The photos are free but you have to pay to download high res versions and you are encouraged to share your snaps through social media sites. The beauty of this is that it is not just a great experience for the end consumer but if you share photos with your social networks of you having a great time in Vail it is far more likely that others will book to go there as well. The fact that you can leave your camera behind, that the photos are professionally shot and that you can access them while on the go through your app means this sort of product could revolutionize the way we all get our holiday snaps in the future.
